Buster's major league career comprised the 1906 season with the Philadelphia Athletics managed by the legendary Connie Mack. Armbruster was the 'fourth outfielder'. His .238 B.A. in a limited roll was not indicative of Buster's hitting skills. His return to the minor leagues, the following year, was welcomed by Armbruster as he batted a sizzling .330 B.A. for the Toledo Mud Hens.
