Ginger holds the distinction of being the first batter up in the first-ever World Series in 1903 where he faced
the legendary Cy Young (HOF). This thrill-a-moment player led the NL in most base hits 3 consecutive years (1902,
03, 04) and again in 1907. Ginger used his speed and slap-hitting technique to get his hits often beating out slow
rollers or hitting through the infield.
