Connie Mack signed Jimmy to his first big-league contract in 1898 for $1000, a startling sum at the turn of the century.  Connie made Jimmy swear that no terms of the contract would be revealed to keep the other players from complaining for more money.  From 1931-33, Jimmy was the 3rd base coach for the great NY Yankee teams led by Hall of Famers Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
