A dangerous hitter who revolutionized first base defensive play, Hal held the Yankees stolen base record until broken, later that century, by Ricky Henderson. Hal's desire to gamble on baseball games ruined his career that had Hall of Fame potential. In 1919, Hal was thought to be a key figure in the 'Big Fix' of the infamous World Series 'Black Sox Scandal'.
