Joe Kelley was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1971. His best production took place prior to the merger of the American and National Leagues. Joe was considered one of the great power hitters of his day. Playing for the Baltimore Orioles of the National League, Joe had 4 incredible back-to-back seasons from 1894-1897 when he averaged a batting average of .370. During the 1894 season, Joe batted 9 for 9 in a double-header, including 4 doubles in one game (a major league record). When Baltimore shifted many of its players to Brooklyn, Joe became Brooklyn's first baseman and helped the Superbas win 2 consecutive NL pennants in 1899 and 1900.
