Carl was the forgotton hero of arguably the best pitching staff ever put together in the history of baseball. Along
with Hall of Famer, Three-Fingers Brown, Jack Pfeister, Ed Reulbach and Orval Overall, Carl won 17 games for the 1906
National League champs, Chicago Cubs. In 1907, Carl was 18-7 with a microscopic 1.17 ERA, one of the lowest ERA's
in baseball history.
